Industrial Grade Solid-State Relay HHG1K Series

FAQs

Q1. How much current margin is recommended when selecting a 500–1000A SSR?
Do not select at the load current. Add margin for inrush, ambient temperature and heat-sink quality, and a larger margin still for inductive loads. Resistive heaters need less margin than transformers or motors. Send the load, supply voltage and cabinet temperature, and our engineers will suggest a model.

Q2. Does a 1000A solid state relay need short-circuit protection?
Yes. An SSR is not short-circuit proof, and a fault current can destroy the output stage before an ordinary breaker trips. Use a fast-acting semiconductor fuse coordinated with the relay’s I²t withstand. Ask us for the I²t data for the chosen model when requesting a quote.

Q3. With ≤10mA off-state leakage, is the load truly de-energized?
No. An SSR is not an isolating device. Leakage of up to 10mA can keep small loads faintly energized, and the output remains connected to the line. For maintenance, use an upstream disconnect or contactor as well. This also matters for loads sensitive to small leakage currents.

Q4. Can the HHG1K be used on three-phase 380V, 480V or 690V systems?
The load voltage range is 60–1200VAC, which covers common three-phase supplies with headroom for transients. A three-phase heater bank typically uses one relay per controlled phase, depending on wiring. Tell us the supply voltage and connection, star or delta, and we will confirm the arrangement.

Q5. How is the correct HHG1K rating determined for heating control cabinets?
Send the heater power in kW, supply voltage, number of phases and cooling method. We will calculate the load current and suggest 500A, 600A, 800A or 1000A. The MOQ is 12 pcs, so single cabinets and project batches are both possible.
