Electric Motor Protector Series

The motor protector is used to form motor control circuit with AC contactors and other switching devices in power supply circuit with frequency of AC 50Hz, rated operating voltage of AC380V and below.

When the main circuit of the motor experiences abnormal working conditions such as phase failure, overload, locked rotor, three-phase imbalance, overvoltage, undervoltage, short circuit, grounding, etc., the switching device contact should be open in a timely manner to disconnect the three-phase power supply of the motor and protect it quickly and reliably.

FAQ

What are electrical drives and control?

Electrical drives are systems that control the operation of electric motors, including starting, speed regulation, and stopping, by converting electrical energy into mechanical motion. Electrical control involves managing these drives to ensure efficient and safe motor performance.

What does a motor protector do?

A motor protector monitors parameters like current, voltage, temperature, speed, and torque to prevent damage. It disconnects the motor from the power supply during faults or abnormal conditions, safeguarding the motor and its circuit.

What is the difference between soft starter and VFD?

A soft starter reduces the voltage supplied to the motor during startup, providing a smooth acceleration by gradually increasing voltage. In contrast, a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) not only controls voltage but also adjusts the frequency, enabling precise speed control throughout the motor’s operation.

How does a soft starter work?

A soft starter works by controlling the voltage supplied to the motor, gradually ramping it up from a low level to the full operating voltage. This approach allows the motor to start smoothly, reducing mechanical stress and electrical inrush currents.

How to size an inverter?

To size an inverter, first determine the total wattage of all devices you intend to power. Add up the wattage of each device, then select an inverter that can handle this total load, considering a margin for safety and potential future additions.

How long does inverter last?

The lifespan of an inverter varies by type and usage. Depending on the type, an inverter can last up to 25 years. However, factors like electro-mechanical wear and temperature fluctuations can affect longevity, with some inverters failing after only a few years.
